C (19) To deliver THEIR SOUL from death,

D (19) and to keep them alive in famine.

C1 (20,21) OUR SOUL waiteth for Yahweh: he is our help and our shield. For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.

B1 (22) Let THY MERCY, O Yahweh, be upon us,

A1 (22) according as WE HOPE in thee.

Psalm 33:8-14

A (8) Let all THE EARTH fear Yahweh:

B (8,9) let ALL THE INHABITANTS of the world stand in awe of him. For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.

C (10) Yahweh bringeth the counsel of THE HEATHEN to nought:

D (10) he maketh THE DEVICES of the people of none effect.

E (11) The counsel of Yahweh standeth for ever,

D1 (11) THE THOUGHTS of his heart to all generations.

C1 (12) Blessed is THE NATION whose God is Yahweh; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.

B1 (13,14) Yahweh looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men. From the place of HIS HABITATION he looketh upon ALL THE INHABITANTS

A1 (14) OF THE EARTH.

Psalm 70*

A. 1  Make haste, O God, to deliver me;
make haste to help me
, O Yahweh.

B. 2  Let them be ashamed and confounded that seek after my soul:
let them be turned backward, and put to confusion,
that desire my hurt.
3  Let them be turned back for a reward of their shame
that say, Aha, aha.

B’. 4  Let all those that seek thee
rejoice and be glad in thee:
and let such as love thy salvation say continually,
Let God be magnified.

A’.  5  But I am poor and needy:
make haste unto me, O God:
thou art my help and my deliverer;
O Yahweh, make no tarrying.

Psalm 13

A. 1 How long wilt thou forget me, O YAHWEH? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?

B. 2  How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in MY HEART daily?

C. how long shall MINE ENEMY be exalted over me?

D. 3 Consider and hear me, O Yahweh my God:
 lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;

C’. 4 Lest MINE ENEMY say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved.

B’. 5  But I have trusted in thy mercy; MY HEART shall rejoice in thy salvation.

A’. 6  I will sing unto YAHWEH, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.

Psalm 18:8-15

A (8) There went up a smoke OUT OF HIS NOSTRILS, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.

B (9,10) He bowed the heavens also, and came down: and darkness was under his feet. And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: yea, he did fly upon the wings of THE WIND .

C (11) He made darkness his secret place; his pavilion round about him were dark WATERS and thick clouds of the skies.

D (12) At the brightness that was before him his thick clouds passed, HAIL STONES AND COALS OF FIRE.

E (13) Yahweh also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice;

D1 (13,14) HAIL STONES AND COALS OF FIRE. Yea, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them.

C1 (15) Then the channels of WATERS were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O Yahweh,

B1 (15) at the blast OF THE BREATH

A1 (15) OF THY NOSTRILS.

Psalm 18:32-39

A (32) It is God THAT GIRDETH ME WITH STRENGTH, and maketh my way perfect.

B (33,34) He maketh MY FEET like hinds’ feet, and setteth me upon my high places. He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.

C (35) Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great.

B1 (36-38) Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip. I have pursued mine enemies, and overtaken them: neither did I turn again till they were consumed. I have wounded them that they were not able to rise: they are fallen under MY FEET .

A1 (39) FOR THOU HAST GIRDED ME WITH STRENGTH unto the battle: thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me.

Psalm 22:27-29

A (27) All the ends of THE WORLD shall remember and turn unto Yahweh:

B (27) and all the kindreds of THE NATIONS shall worship before thee.

C (28) For the kingdom is Yahweh’s:

B1 (28) and he is the governor among THE NATIONS.

A1 (29) All they that be fat upon EARTH shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul.

Psalm 28:6-9

A (6) BLESSED BE Yahweh, because he hath heard the voice of my supplications.

B (7) Yahweh is MY STRENGTH and my shield;

C (7) MY HEART trusted in him,

D (7) and I am helped:

C1 (7) therefore MY HEART greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.

B1 (8) Yahweh is THEIR STRENGTH, and he is the saving strength of his anointed.

A1 (9) Save thy people, and BLESS thine inheritance: feed them also, and lift them up for ever.

Psalm 31:1-14

A (1) In thee, O YAHWEH, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness.

B (2) Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: BE THOU MY STRONG rock (sur),

C (2) for an house OF DEFENCE (masud) to save me.

D (3) For thou art my rock (sela)

C1 (3) and MY FORTRESS (masud) ; therefore for thy name’s sake lead me, and guide me.

B1 (4) Pull me out of the net that they have laid privily for me: FOR THOU ART MY STRENGTH .

A1 (5) Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O YAHWEH God of truth.

A (6) I have hated them that regard lying vanities: but I TRUST in Yahweh.

B (7) I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy: for THOU HAST CONSIDERED my trouble;

C (7,8) THOU HAST KNOWN my soul in adversities; And hast not shut me up into the hand of the enemy: thou hast set my feet in a large room.

D (9) Have mercy upon me, O Yahweh, for I AM IN TROUBLE :

E (9) mine eye IS CONSUMED with grief, yea, my soul and my belly.

F (10) For my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing:

E1 (10) my strength faileth because of mine iniquity, and my bones ARE CONSUMED .

D1 (11) I was a reproach among all mine ENEMIES ,

C1 (11) but especially among my neighbours, and a fear to mine ACQUAINTANCE :

B1 (11, 12) THEY THAT DID SEE me without fled from me. I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind: I am like a broken vessel.

A1 (13, 14) For I have heard the slander of many: fear was on every side: while they took counsel together against me, they devised to take away my life. But I TRUSTED in thee, O Yahweh: I said, Thou art my God.

Psalm 10:10-14

A (10) He croucheth, and humbleth himself, that THE POOR <02426> <02489> <02489> may fall by his strong ones.

B (11) HE HATH SAID IN HIS HEART, God hath forgotten: he hideth his face; he will never see it.

C (12) Arise, O Yahweh; O God, lift up thine hand: forget not the humble.

B1 (13) Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God? HE HATH SAID IN HIS HEART, Thou wilt not require it.

A1 (14) Thou hast seen it; for thou beholdest mischief and spite, to requite it with thy hand: THE POOR <02489> committeth himself unto thee; thou art the helper of the fatherless.
