Luke 20:39-47

Note: this short section is an indictment of the scribes. They were supposed to be  ministers of the Word but instead were profiteers from religion (v45-47). The scriptures they were supposed to be experts in had said that Christ was David’s son yet David called him Lord. They should have understood that there was only one explanation for this – the Christ would be the Son of God as well as the Son of David.

A.(39) Then certain of the scribes answering said, Master, thou hast well said. (40) And after that they durst not ask him any question at all.

B.(41) And he said unto them, How say they that Christ is David’s son?

C.(42) And David himself saith in the book of Psalms, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, (43) Till I make thine enemies thy footstool.

B’.(44) David therefore calleth him Lord, how is he then his son?

A’.(45) Then in the audience of all the people he said unto his disciples, (46) Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts; (47) Which devour widows ‘houses, and for a shew make long prayers:the same shall receive greater damnation.

Luke 20:19-26

A.(19) And the chief priests and the scribes the same hour sought to lay hands on him; and they feared the people:for they perceived that he had spoken this parable against them. (20)  And they watched him, and sent forth spies, which should feign themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor.

B.(21) And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, neither acceptest thou the person of any, but teachest the way of God truly: (22) Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Caesar, or no?

C.(23) But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them, Why tempt ye me?

B’.(24) Shew me a penny. Whose image and superscription hath it? They answered and said, Caesar’s. 25 And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar’s, and unto God the things which be God’s.

A’. (26) And they could not take hold of his words before the people:and they marvelled at his answer, and held their peace.

Ezekiel 20:1-44

Note: this is an attempt to discern the structure of a complex chapter and as all these posts is put up for discussion. Corrections and better suggestions are always welcome.

Introduction:  1B’ is an answer to the possible presumption of 1B.

1A. (1) And it came to pass in the seventh year, in the fifth month, the tenth day of the month, that certain of the elders of Israel came to inquire of the LORD,

1B. and sat before me.

1A’.(2) Then came the word of the LORD unto me, saying, (3) Son of man, speak unto the elders of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Are ye come to inquire of me? As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will not be inquired of by you.

1B’. (4) Wilt thou judge them, son of man, wilt thou judge them?

Part 1 – Israel in Egypt where YHWH made Himself known to them.

2A.  cause them to know the abominations of their fathers: (5) And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD;

a. In the day when I chose Israel,

b. and lifted up mine hand unto the seed of the house of Jacob,

     c. and made myself known unto them in the land of Egypt,

  b’. when I lifted up mine hand unto them,

     c’. saying, I am the LORD your God;

a’. (6) In the day

b”. that I lifted up mine hand unto them,

    c”. to bring them forth of the land of Egypt into a land that I had espied for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands:

2B. (7) Then said I unto them, Cast ye away every man the abominations of his eyes, and defile not yourselves with the idols of Egypt:

 2C. I am the LORD your God.

2B’. (8) But they rebelled against me, and would not hearken unto me: they did not every man cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idols of Egypt:

2A’. then I said, I will pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt. (9) But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, among whom they were, in whose sight I made myself known unto them,  in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt.

Part 2 – For His Name’s sake YHWH brought Israel out of Egypt into the  wilderness where He gave them a law which they did not honour.

(Note: overlapping structure, 2A’ = 3A)

3A.(8) then I said, I will pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt. (9) But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, among whom they were, in whose sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt.

3B. (10) Wherefore I caused them to go forth out of the land of Egypt, and brought them into the wilderness.

i. (11) And I gave them my statutes,

ii. and shewed them my judgments,

iii. which if a man do, he shall even live in them.

iv. (12) Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them,

3C. that they might know that I am the LORD that sanctify them.

3B’. (13) But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness:

i’. they walked not in my statutes,

ii’. and they despised my judgments,

iii’. which if a man do, he shall even live in them;

iv’. and my sabbaths they greatly polluted:

3A’. then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them in the wilderness, to consume them. (14) But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, in whose sight I brought them out.

Note: Israel were turned back to die in the wilderness but their children were allowed to live. They also rebelled against the law renewed with them (v18 – Deuteronomy?),and the warning was they would be scattered out of the land.

(Note: overlapping structure 2A’ = 3A)

4A. then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them in the wilderness, to consume them. (14) But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, in whose sight I brought them out.

4B. (15) Yet also I lifted up my hand unto them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands;

4C. (16)

i. Because they despised my judgments,

ii. and walked not in my statutes,

iv. but polluted my sabbaths:

v. for their heart went after their idols.

4D. (17) Nevertheless mine eye spared them from destroying them, neither did I make an end of them in the wilderness.(18)  But I said unto their children in the wilderness,

ii. Walk ye not in the statutes of your fathers,

i. neither observe their judgments,

v. nor defile yourselves with their idols:

4E. (19) I am the LORD your God;

ii’. walk in my statutes,

i’. and keep my judgments, and do them;

iii’. (20) And hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you,

4E’. that ye may know that I am the LORD your God.

4D’. (21) Notwithstanding the children rebelled against me:

ii. they walked not in my statutes,

i. neither kept my judgments to do them,

iii. which if a man do, he shall even live in them;

iv. they polluted my sabbaths:

4A’. then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness. (22) Nevertheless I withdrew mine hand, and wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be polluted in the sight of the heathen, in whose sight I brought them forth.

4B’.(23) I lifted up mine hand unto them also in the wilderness, that I would scatter them among the heathen, and disperse them through the countries;

4C’.

i’. (24)Because they had not executed my judgments,

ii’. but had despised my statutes,

iii’. and had polluted my sabbaths,

iv’. and their eyes were after their fathers’ idols.

Note: This following section has some difficult verses. What are the statutes that were not good – v25? Is this a reference to the words of Deuteronomy 28 promising ejection form the land if they rebelled? The Lord would never allow them to stay in the land and become just like the nations around (v32).

5A.(25) Wherefore I gave them also statutes that were not good, and judgments whereby they should not live;

5B.(26) And I polluted them in their own gifts, in that they caused to pass through the fire all that openeth the womb, that I might make them desolate, to the end that they might know that I am the LORD.

5C.(27).Therefore, son of man, speak unto the house of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Yet in this your fathers have blasphemed me, in that they have committed a trespass against me.

5D.(28) For when I had brought them into the land, for the which I lifted up mine hand to give it to them, then they saw every high hill, and all the thick trees,

5E. and they offered there their sacrifices, and there they presented the provocation of their offering: there also they made their sweet savour, and poured out there their drink offerings.

5D’.(29) Then I said unto them, What is the high place whereunto ye go? And the name thereof is called Bamah unto this day.

5C’.(30) Wherefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Are ye polluted after the manner of your fathers? and commit ye whoredom after their abominations?

5B’.(31)For when ye offer your gifts, when ye make your sons to pass through the fire, ye pollute yourselves with all your idols, even unto this day: and shall I be inquired of by you, O house of Israel? As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will not be inquired of by you.

5A’. (32) And that which cometh into your mind shall not be at all, that ye say, We will be as the heathen, as the families of the countries, to serve wood and stone.

Note; After their scattering the Lord promised to regather Israel, but first He will bring them through “the wilderness” to purge them of their sins.

6A. (33)  As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out,will I rule over you: (34) And I will bring you out from the people, and will gather you out of the countries wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out.

6B.(35) And I will bring you into the wilderness of the people, and there will I plead with you face to face. (36) Like as I pleaded with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I plead with you, saith the Lord GOD. (37) And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant:

6C.(38) And I will purge out from among you the rebels, and them that transgress against me: I will bring them forth out of the country where they sojourn, and they shall not enter into the land of Israel:

6D. and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

6C’.(39) As for you, O house of Israel, thus saith the Lord GOD; Go ye, serve ye every one his idols, and hereafter also, if ye will not hearken unto me: but pollute ye my holy name no more with your gifts, and with your idols.

6B’.(40) For in mine holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, there shall all the house of Israel, all of them in the land, serve me: there will I accept them, and there will I require your offerings, and the firstfruits of your oblations, with all your holy things.

6A'(41). I will accept you with your sweet savour, when I bring you out from the people, and gather you out of the countries wherein ye have been scattered; and I will be sanctified in you before the heathen.

Note: This final section emphasises what has been prominent throughout the passage, YHWH’s name – His character and purpose – will be made known to His people Israel who in being regathered  will repent and be forgiven. “And so all Israel shall be saved” (Romans 11:26).

7A.(42) And ye shall know that I am the LORDwhen I shall bring you into the land of Israel, into the country for the which I lifted up mine hand to give it to your fathers.

7B.(43) And there shall ye remember your ways, and all your doings, wherein ye have been defiled; and ye shall lothe yourselves in your own sight for all your evils that ye have committed.

7A’.(44) And ye shall know that I am the LORDwhen I have wrought with you for my name’s sake, not according to your wicked ways, nor according to your corrupt doings, O ye house of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.

Isaiah 25:1-26:4

from Pete O.

Between Isaiah 25:2-  and 26:1- there is a contrast between the city which is destroyed and the future city of the righteous. In this proposal the covering or vail over the nations has to do with their wrong understanding of the nature of God. There is stress on the bringing down of the proud and the defence of the poor. At the centre is the promise of resurrection and eternal life in the Kingdom go God on earth.

Isaiah 25

A – 1 O LORD, thou art my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things; thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.

B. – 2 For thou hast made of a city an heap; of a defenced city a ruin: a palace of strangers to be no city; it shall never be built.- 3 Therefore shall the strong people glorify thee, the city of the terrible nations shall fear thee. 4 For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.

C.   5 Thou shalt bring down the noise of strangers, as the heat in a dry place; even the heat with the shadow of a cloud: the branch of the terrible ones shall be brought low.

D – 6 And in this mountain shall the LORD of hosts make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined.

E – 7 And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations.

F – 8 He will swallow up death in victory; and the LORD God will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it.

E’ – 9 And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.

D’ – 10 For in this mountain shall the hand of the LORD rest, and Moab shall be trodden down under him, even as straw is trodden down for the dunghill.

C’. 11 And he shall spread forth his hands in the midst of them, as he that swimmeth spreadeth forth his hands to swim: and he shall bring down their pride together with the spoils of their hands. 12 And the fortress of the high fort of thy walls shall he bring down, lay low, and, even to the dust.

Isaiah 26

B’ – 1 In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah;  – We have a strong city; salvation will God appoint for walls and bulwarks.

A’ – 2 Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in.

Daniel 3

Overall structure:

A. The King’s decree
    B. Accusation against Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego.
        C. They are ready to give the answer of faith
    B’. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego vindicated.
A’.  The King’s new decree

1A. (1) Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, whose height was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof six cubits: he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon.

1B. (2) Then Nebuchadnezzar the king sent to gather together the princes, the governors, and the captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellers, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, to come to the dedication of the image which Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.

1B’. (3) Then the princes, the governors, and captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellers, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, were gathered together unto the dedication of the image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up;

1A’. and they stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up.

2A. (4) Then an herald cried aloud, “To you it is commanded, O people, nations, and languages, (5) That at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king hath set up: (6) And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth shall the same hour be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace” (7)

2B. Therefore at that time, when all the people heard the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and all kinds of musick, all the people, the nations, and the languages, fell down and worshipped the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.

2C. (8) Wherefore at that time certain Chaldeans came near, and accused the Jews.

2A’. (9) They spake and said to the king Nebuchadnezzar,  O king, live for ever. (10) Thou, O king, hast made a decree,  “that every man that shall hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, shall fall down and worship the golden image:  (11) And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth, that he should be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.”

2B’. (12) There are certain Jews whom thou hast set over the affairs of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; these men, O king, have not regarded thee: they serve not thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

3A. (13) Then Nebuchadnezzar in his rage and fury commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Then they brought these men before the king.

3B. (14) Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, do not ye serve my gods, nor worship the golden image which I have set up?

3C. (15) Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?

3D. (16) Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.

3C’. 17) If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.

3B.(18) But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

3A.(19) Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego:

4A. therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated. (20) And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace. (21)Then these men were bound in their coats, their hosen, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.  (22) Therefore because the king’s commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.

4B.  (23) And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.

4C. (24) Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellers, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?

4D. They answered and said unto the king, True, O king.

4C’. (25) He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.

4B’. (26) Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spake, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth, and come hither.

4A’. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, came forth of the midst of the fire. (27) And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king’s counsellers, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.

5A. (28) Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him,

5B. and have changed the king’s word,

5C. and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.

5B’. (29) Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill:

5A’. because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort.

(30) Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, in the province of Babylon.

Daniel 2:36-45

A.(36) This is the dream; and we will tell the interpretation thereof before the king.

B. a. (37) Thou, O king, art a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory. (38) And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold.

b.(39) And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee,

c. and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth.

d. (40) And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things:and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise.

e1 (41) And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters ‘clay, and part of iron,  the kingdom shall be divided;but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay.

e2. (42) And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong,  and partly broken.

e3 (43)  And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay,  they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.

C.(44) i.  And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed:

ii. and the kingdom shall not be left to other people,

ii’. but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms,

i’. and it shall stand for ever.

B’.(45)  Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the  iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold;

A’. the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter:and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.

Note: This proposal for an ABCB’A’ structure sees the boundaries AA’ as being the “interpretation” of the dream to the king. B is the explanation of the metals and clay, excluding the stone, and B’ describes the role of the  stone. C is the Kingdom of God which, unlike the image, will stand for ever. Within the B and C there are subunits that have interesting structures. Verse 41-43 give a threefold explanation of the iron and clay. The first addresses the dividing of the iron by the clay but explains that the strength of the iron was there.  The second adds that the division also means the feet and toes were partly weak because of the clay. The third focusses on the mixing – (intermarriage between Rome and the barbarians) – and the inevitable lack of cohesion, which is the explanation for the fragility of the toes and feet.

Luke 6:27-38

A. (27)  But I say unto you which hear,

Love your enemies,
do good
to them which hate you,

B.(28) Bless them that curse you,
and pray for them which despitefully use you.

(29) And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek
offer also the other;

and him that taketh away thy cloke
forbid not to take thy coat also.

(30) Give to every man that asketh of thee;
and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.

(31) And as ye would that men should do to you,
do ye also to them likewise.

a. (32)  For if ye love them which love you,
b. what thank have ye?
c. for sinners also love those that love them.

a. (33) And if ye do good to them which do good to you,
b. what thank have ye?
c. for sinners also do even the same.

a. (34)  And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive,
b. what thank have ye?
c. for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.

a. (35) But love ye your enemies,
b. and do good
,
c. and lend, hoping for nothing again;

and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest:  for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

A. (36) Be ye therefore merciful,
as your Father also is merciful.

B. (37) Judge not,
and ye shall not be judged:

B’. condemn not,
and ye shall not be condemned:

A’. forgive,
and ye shall be forgiven:

A. (38) Give,
and it shall be given unto you;

B. good measure,
pressed down,
and shaken together,
and running over,
shall men give into your bosom.

A’. For with the same measure that ye mete
withal it shall be measured to you again.

Luke 6:20-26*

20  And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said,

A. Blessed be ye poor:
for yours is the kingdom of God.

B. 21 Blessed are ye that hunger now:
for ye shall be filled.

C. Blessed are ye that weep now:
for
ye shall laugh.

D. a.22 Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you,

i. and when they shall separate you from their company,
ii. and shall reproach you,
iii. and cast out your name as evil,

for the Son of man’s sake.

i. 23 Rejoice ye in that day,
ii. and leap for joy:
iii. for, behold, your reward is great in heaven:

a’.  for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.

A’. 24 But woe unto you that are rich!
for ye have received your consolation.

B’. 25 Woe unto you that are full!
for ye shall hunger.

C’. Woe unto you that laugh now!
for ye shall mourn and weep.

D’. 26 Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you!
for so did their fathers to the false prophets.

Ezekiel 9:1-11

Note: This grim scripture focuses on the judgment on the idolaters that had filled the temple with corruption. But this happens only after the faithful are marked out for mercy.

A.i. (1) He cried also in mine ears with a loud voice, saying, Cause them that have charge over the city to draw near, even every man with his destroying weapon in his hand. (2) And, behold, six men came from the way of the higher gate, which lieth toward the north, and every man a slaughter weapon in his hand; and one man among them was clothed with linen, with a writer’s inkhorn by his side: and they went in, and stood beside the brasen altar.

ii.(3) And the glory of the God of Israel was gone up from the cherub, whereupon he was, to the threshold of the house.

i’. And he called to the man clothed with linen, which had the writer’s inkhorn by his side; (4) And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof.

B.(5) And to the others he said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity:

C. (6) Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house.

D. (7) And he said unto them, Defile the house, and fill the courts with the slain: go ye forth. And they went forth, and slew in the city.

C. (8) And it came to pass, while they were slaying them, and I was left, that I fell upon my face, and cried, and said, Ah Lord GOD! wilt thou destroy all the residue of Israel in thy pouring out of thy fury upon Jerusalem?

B. (9) Then said he unto me, The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceeding great, and the land is full of blood, and the city full of perverseness: for they say, The LORD hath forsaken the earth, and the LORD seeth not. (10) And as for me also, mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity, but I will recompense their way upon their head.

A.(11) And, behold, the man clothed with linen, which had the inkhorn by his side, reported the matter, saying, I have done as thou hast commanded me.

Acts 4:23-30

From Jeremy T

A. (24) And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord,

B. and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:
