After Longacre
A. 25 And they went up out of Egypt, and came into the land of Canaan unto Jacob their father,
B. 26 And told him, saying, Joseph is yet alive, and he is governor over all the land of Egypt.
C. And Jacob’s heart fainted, for he believed them not.
D. 27 And they told him all the words of Joseph, which he had said unto them:
C’. and when he saw the wagons which Joseph had sent to carry him, the spirit of Jacob their father revived:
B’. 28 And Israel said, It is enough; Joseph my son is yet alive:
A’. I will go and see him before I die.
I have looked for this structure in Longacre’s book on _Joseph: A Story of Divine Providence_, but I cannot find anything except his brief remark about 45:25-28 as “a passage of rare beauty and power” (p. 52). Can anyone please supply me with precise data for the original publication of this structure? Thank you.
