  1. please consider from NASB95

29 Who has woe? has woe
    …..Who has sorrow? feel bad
    ……….Who has contentions? contentious
……………Who has complaining? aware and complaining
………………..Who has wounds without cause? occurred while blacked out
…………………….Who has redness of eyes? hung over

…..30 THOSE WHO linger long over wine,
…..THOSE WHO go to taste mixed wine.

……….31 DO NOT LOOK on the wine
    ……….when it is red,

……………When IT SPARKLES in the cup,
    ……………When IT GOES DOWN smoothly;

……………32 At the last IT BITES like a serpent
    ……………And STINGS like a viper.

……….33 YOUR EYES WILL SEE strange things
……….And your mind will utter perverse things.

…..34 And you will be like ONE WHO lies down in the middle of the sea,
…..Or like ONE WHO lies down on the top of a mast.

35 “They struck me, has woe
…..[but] I did not become ill; feel bad
    ……….They beat me, physically contentious
……………[but] I did not know [it.] un-aware and not complaining
………………..When shall I awake? blacked out
…………………….I will seek another drink.” hung over

  2. The chiasmus is a wonderful method of presenting both the question and answer concerning cause. Who is wounded WITHOUT CAUSE? Question 23:29 is finally answered WOUNDED BECAUSE of a return to the same stupidity. Central axis? the issue of sin, it will always bite and has an end or consequence from behaviour

    A wounded without cause 29
B tarry long at wine 30
C seek mixed (mixed) wine 30b
D look not when colour (עין eye – perception of consequences) 31
E At the last bitten by serpent 32a
E2 (At the last) stung by adder 32b
D thy eyes shall behold a strange woman 33a
C heart utter perverse (overturned) things 33b
B lie down in midst of sea 34a
    A wounded for a cause 35
